Noticeable through my past photographic works, I’ve always had an immutable interest in learning about the culture of costumes and those who freely play dress up as a means of embellishment but yet self-expression. Embracing this passion of mine along with the never-ending traveling path I took years ago, my heart skipped a beat in Bolivia where the cultural mindset truly meets with the intrinsic value of the folk costume tradition.
From the ticachascada headpieces to the outstanding vivid-colored ponchos : the “YAMPARA” project is a sentimental photo series that will eventually bring to light the story behind those Bolivian handcrafted preciousnesses.
In total immersion, here is my understanding of the Yamparas textile culture that is to be known.
